Chrono-nutrition, Circadian Rhythms & Irritable Bowel Syndrome

We most often focus on what we eat, but how about when we choose to eat? Research is emerging in the field of chrono-nutrition, which examines the relationship between our eating times, circadian rhythms and metabolic health.

In my latest guest article with FODMAP Everyday, I examine how meal timings and supporting our natural circadian rhythms (our sleep and wake cycles, which are often largely disrupted in today’s modern world) can impact our gut-health and subsequently IBS symptoms.

I am honoured to be a part of the Success Team at FODMAP Everyday, and for those who don’t know, they are an amazing resource for those with IBS following a low-FODMAP diet.

In this article I discuss:

  • How Digestion Is Affected By When You Eat

  • What is Chrononutrition?

  • What Are Circadian Rhythms?

  • What Impacts Our Circadian Rhythms

  • Digesive System Influenced By Circadian Rhythm

  • Shift Workers & IBS

  • Eating In Tune With Circadian Rhythm to Improve IBS Symptoms

  • How to Support Your Natural Circadian Rhythms
