Depression: 6 Tips for Eating Well When Cooking Feels Impossible
If you’ve been following along my blog or social media, or working with me, you’ll know that mental health and the gut-brain connection is a passionate area of mine. In this amazing interview with Everyday Health, we provide some tips to make cooking easier when mood is low.
Fluctuations in mood and motivation is a normal phenomenon, and affect us all from time to time. However, we may also go through times of depression, and for some those periods may be more severe and/or last longer than others. In any case, this can have an impact on our ability to take care of ourselves, and eat the nutrients that our brain and body needs to thrive. This can also impact our gut-brain connection and vagus nerve which plays an important role in our digestive health.
Some of the primary symptoms of depression — loss of motivation, poor concentration, difficulty sleeping, and low energy — can often result in someone not properly taking care of themselves in ways such as not showering, engaging in exercise, planning balanced meals, or cooking.
