Did you know supporting your immune system also helps support exercise recovery? Further, not fuelling appropriately before and after exercise can impair your immune system!⠀

While exercise can promote immunity, if we over-exercise and under fuel and not eat to support our recovery, this can impact our immune system and leave us more susceptible to getting sick and poor recovery. ⠀

No surprise I love smoothies as a tasty and simple way to pack in some nutrition. This new Mango Amla Berry smoothie from Evive Nutrition has blown away my expectations!

This new flavour is packed with antioxidants, vitamin C (110% per serving), Iron (40% per serving) and Vitamin A (35% per serving), important nutrients that support an active lifestyle and a healthy immune system Antioxidants help fight damage and prevent oxidative stress. The adaptogens may help our body fight stressors and support hormone and physiological response.

Highlights

Tastes amazing: It has a sweet, tropical taste that almost is similar to sorbet. The kiwi, mango and banana flavours dominate, but so does its gorgeous turquoise colour!

Adaptogens: The adaptogens include Maitake & Shiitake mushrooms. Maitake means “dancing mushroom” in Japanese. These mushrooms contains immune-supporting nutrients such as minerals, vitamin B & C, antioxidants and potassium. Shitake mushrooms also have a great nutritional profile with health-promoting compounds too, such as antioxidants and fibre.

Superfoods: This smoothie contains Amla Berries, which is also known as the Indian Gooseberry. It’s a very anti-inflammatory food thanks to hihgh concentration in antioxidant content, and Vitamin C.

Antioxidants: I’ve mentioned antioxidants a few times now, but do you know what theydo for us? In short, antioxidants help to balance levels of free radicals in our body, which are molecules that create damage. While we need some free radicals for health, when our stress, pollution and toxin exposure is high, these molecules can take over and do more harm the good! To help maintain this balance, we need to consume nutritious and antioxidant dense foods. This smoothie contains spirulina, Camu Camu. Amla Berry, Ginger and lots of colourful fruits with high antioxidant concentrations.

Bright Colour; It’s true that we eat with our eyes! This smoothie is a gorgeous turquoise colour thanks to the Spirulina, which is a type of blue-green algae that’s known for being packed with vitamins and plant-based omega-3.

Supporting Our Immune System

Our immune system is like our body’s security system. Whenever it senses a need to protect you, the alarm rings, and so your immune system calls in the support: white blood cells! Our skin, mucous layers in our throat and nose also act as important barriers.  When your immune system is weak, it puts active individuals at greater risk for poor recovery, as well as increased risk of getting sick.

Many factors play a role in our body’s ability to ward off disease, cold & flu…. genetics, stress-levels, sleep quality, exercise amounts & intensity (yes, too much as well as not enough plays a role). But nutrition can help support as well!

We need nutrients to support our skin health and maintain our external barriers, as well as support the components of our immune system to stay in healthy levels such as our white system cells and antibodies.

Food First

Of course, life gets busy so having these functional smoothies can help make it easier to pack in the nutrients we need to support our immune system.

I believe in food first. It’s much more enjoyable to eat an orange versus taking a Vit C capsule, right? This smoothie wheel helps us get in the vitamins and minerals we need and support your immune system and recovery, and in the such as natural, delicious, and satisfying way!
