My Story

Hi! I am so happy you have ended up here! This post marks the start of my blog, and so I thought it would only be natural I provide you a bit of background about who I am and how I got to where I am today.

I am a Registered Dietitian and nutritionist located in Toronto, Canada. Since my youth, I have been passionate about the power of nutrition to heal our minds, nourish our bodies, and help us thrive to our fullest potential. I have a passion for fitness and sport nutrition, and I love helping clients meet their performance and health goals through personalized nutrition. As a nutrition professional, I take pride in my commitment to evidence-based practice and serving the unique needs of my clients.

To become an RD, I received a Masters of Health Science degree in Nutrition Communication from Ryerson University. The program included an 8 month Dietitians of Canada accredited practicum which allowed me to provide nutrition care in various healthcare settings. I had an amazing experience working in so many different areas including the Complex Care & Recovery Unit at CAMH, the Diabetes Education Program at Scarborough Centre for Health Communities, private practice sport nutrition, and various in-patient units including gastroenterology, surgery, general medicine and oncology at Mount Sinai Hospital.

HOW IT ALL STARTED...

Growing up in a household where both of my parents were very involved in the kitchen, I developed a love of food from a young age. My interest in nutrition peaked during high school, when I was experiencing the typical downsides of adolescence: acne, mood swings, and insecurities. This led me to research and learn about how food may impact how we feel, help prevent certain diseases, affect our energy levels, and influence our mood. I realized that my interest in nutrition could become a career path, so I decided to pursue a bachelor’s degree of Applied Science in Nutrition and Food at Ryerson University. Four years later, I decided I wanted to become an RD; to be a credible and regulated source of health information and guidance for the public.  I decided to apply to dietetics accredited programs, and since I love Ryerson University so much, I chose to continue my education in the graduate nutrition program.

Even though my formal education has finished, the learning for me never stops. Fuelling my passion for health, fitness, and nutrition, I love to read, research and keep up on the latest evidence and opinions.I also love travelling, trying new foods, and exploring new places by foot, bike, anything active, count me in!

I have always been an active individual; playing sports as a teenager, always loving to get outside and bike, hike, run, etc. During my mid-teenage years, I developed a regular yoga practice and would practice intense Ashtanga yoga sessions 5-6 days per week. I became very obsessed with the yoga culture for about two years. However, I quickly realized my body was craving more stimulation, and so I fell into weight lifting, long-distance running, and more recently CrossFit. I have experienced first-hand how nutrition plays a huge role in seeing improvements in my strength and endurance capabilities, and sport nutrition is a core interest of mine. Fusing my two loves of fitness and nutrition, I have a passion for working with active individuals and athletes to help them meet their health and performance goals.
