Dreamy Hot Chocolate
It’s been a snowy past couple weeks and if you’re anything like me, you’ve been making ALL the hot drinks to stay warm and keep festive. This hot chocolate recipe is my favourite hot beverage this time of year. Low in sugar and a simple ingredient list, it’s not your average hot chocolate recipe. The natural caffeine from the dark chocolate make it a nice afternoon pick-me up beverage, but without the sugar crash. Not to mention it is super simple and easy to make, you really have no excuse not to try it!
So put on your slippers, grab a good book, and keep warm with this dreamy (dairy free!) hot chocolate.
1 cup almond-coconut milk (unsweetened)
2 tsp maple syrup (substitute with 1 packet of stevia for sugar free)
2 squares 85% dark chocolate
2 tsp cocoa powder
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Pinch sea salt
Pinch cinnamon or orange zest (optional)
Heat milk in a pot. Place ingredients in a blender and combine for 10-15 seconds. If you don’t have access to a blender, shaking it up in a jar also works! Recipe serves 1-2. Enjoy!
